Last days in Kuwait before Jordan

Well we have all been busy here showing everyone around the city.  Yesterday we headed to the Palms Beach Club to take in some rays.  It was a nice 25 degree day so we were able to catch a little tan and have a swim in the pool and gulf.  After that we headed to the Marina Mall to shop and then had lunch out on the patio.  We took lots of pictures of the yachts and motorcycles that were around.  I think there was a little rally going on because there was quite a group parked out front.  After that we headed to the Kuwait Towers and went up to the viewing sphere.  See pictures below.  After supper we went to the aquarium to show everyone the sharks, alligators, snakes, bats, etc and then came back home to get a good nights rest.

Today Kelly and her mom went to the mall and shopped for the afternoon and I took Mom and Dad to the outskirts of the city and half way to the Iraq border.  They wanted to see what the Kuwait country side looked like so we headed out about 50 kms north and got to see all the locals camping out in tents.  Many people head out to the desert with dirt bikes and quads and spend the day or weekend out there while camping in tents.  They were pretty interested that it was sand as far as you can see once you get out of the city.  Dad took a wack of pictures; we stopped once and got out so that they could experience stepping on cacti.  The objective of the trip was to see camels but they were not out.  We got back to the city and went by the Harley Davidson dealership to find out it was closed.  We will have to go back when we get back from Jordan.
On the way there we managed to get ourselves into a nice 4-wheel skid on the freeway at 120km/h.  Some turkey in a ratched out Toyota blew a tire and there was shrapnel all over the road. Cars immediately slammed on their brakes and swerved around the mess.  Well I was one of them and after locking up all four tires smoking out everyone behind us I gained control and continued on.  When I looked back there were streaks all over the road and with the look on Mom's face I knew that there were also streaks all over her shorts.

We came home and headed to the roof to get some good shots of the city from 11 story's up.  Tomorrow we are heading to the airport around 8am as our flight leaves at 10.  It will be a quick 3 hr flight and then we will drive ourselves to Madaba where we will spend our first night.

Holy Moses! Tomorrow afternoon we will be on the top of Mount Nebo looking out over the Dead Sea and the rooftops of Bethlehem and Jerusalem (pun intended).  Hopefully it's a clear day.  We will drive ourselves from Madaba to the Dead Sea via Hammamat hot springs on Monday and then spend the night at the Lot Hotel on the Dead Sea.  They should have wireless internet at the hotel so we will hopefully update the blog again on monday.  Stay tuned.

did you really need the bit about streaks in your mom's shorts?
